Much has been made about what Paul might’ve meant when he commanded us to “be filled with the Holy Spirit” (Eph 5:18). On Sunday, I took a more practical interpretation, comparing it to what a person does when they get drunk; they “fill” themselves up with alcohol. I don’t believe Paul was describing anything other than replacing excessive drinking with worship, singing and gratitude done in the Holy Spirit.
