Living by Faith

The Life of Abraham

Who is Abraham?

In this 14 week series, we will follow Abraham's life in Genesis, connect it to the New Testament and show his connection to the Gospel. Our prayer for this series is that it would help you grow in faith and delight in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Download and print out your Family Devotions Guide so you and your children can follow along with the series. If you would like a hard copy, see the Children's Staff on Sundays.

"How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!" - Psalm 133:1 (NIV)

Week 1: What is Faith

We walk by faith by trusting in God's promises.

Genesis 12:1-9, Hebrews 11:8-10; 10:30-11:1.

Week 2: The Object of Our Faith

The object of our faith is God's faithfulness, not our own strength or obedience.

Genesis 12:10-13:4, Romans 10:10-13, Ephesians 2:8-9.

Week 3: Faith in God's Provision

Faith waits on God's timing, rather than chasing wealth and prosperity.

Genesis 13:5-18, Hebrews 11:13-16

Week 4: Faith in God's Protection

Faith honors God rather than chasing worldly power and influence.

Genesis 14:1-24, Psalm 110, Hebrews 7:11-28

Week 5: Justified by Faith

God justifies us through faith, counting us righteous apart from any of our works, based on the righteousness of Christ.

Genesis 15:1-21, Galatians 3:1-9

Week 6: Freedom & Faith

Although human works cannot free us from slavery to sin, God frees us through the Gospel.

Genesis 16:1-16, Galatians 3:29; 4:21-5:1

Week 7: Faith & Religious Ritual

We do not place our faith in our religious behavior and practices; instead we trust in God's covenant keeping faithfulness.

Genesis 17:1-27, Romans 4:1-12, James 2:18-26

Week 8: Faith in the Impossible

God brings life out of death, hope out of despair. Nothing is impossible for God. Faith trusts in God's promises even when they seem laughably impossible for us.

Genesis 18:1-15, Hebrews 11:11-12, Romans 4:16-21; 8:8-11

Week 9: Faith in God's Justice

God rescues the faithful from His coming judgment because of His great compassion; we can be assured of both God's justice and mercy.

Genesis 18:16-19:38, Luke 17:20-37

Week 10: Faith When We Are Faithless

God remains faithful, even when we are unfaithful. God's grace begins anew each morning.

Genesis 20:1-18, 2 Timothy 2:8-13, Romans 3:3-4

Week 11: Faith for the Weak and Foolish

Faith doesn't trust in human wisdom, but in God's perfect wisdom. God works through the "weak" and "foolish" to shame the strong.

Genesis 21:1-21, 1 Corinthians 1:18-25

Week 12: Faith Throughout the Ages

Throughout generations, God remains faithful to His covenant promises, blessing the world through His people.

Genesis 21:22-34, Micah 7:18-20, Genesis 12:3

Week 13: Faith in God's Sacrifice

Our faith comes from God who provided the sacrifice, His own Son, to save us from our sin.

Genesis 22:1-19, Hebrews 11:17-19, John 3:16
