“How to Connect with New People”

Joelavagnino   -
  1. Take advantage of the Next Step Cards and reports during the week.

  • It helps you to become familiar with, pray for and to memorize their names.
  • You can identify 1 or 2 people that you will seek out the following Sunday.

  1. Don’t be afraid to “cold call” new people.

  • Let them know not only your name, but your title or ministry you are involved in.
  • Use “inviting” language, such as “I’d like to invite you to our team…to get to know people at LVCC…to see what our ministry is about”
  • Invite them to come up and introduce themselves the following Sunday!
  • Direct them to your web page so they can recognize who you are.

New people may not volunteer right away, but they do want to be asked!

  1. Utilize the “5 Minute Window” on Sunday mornings.

  • Kindly pause conversations with those that can happen during the week.
  • Look for names you’ve recognized and prayed for.
  • It is a wonderful model of outreach and hospitality for the other members.

  1. Sit in different locations each week on Sundays.

  • It helps you notice more new people.
  • It creates an opportunity to meet them during the “Meet and Greet.”
  • It creates more separation from members and family that tend to seek you out.

  1. Memorize and use names as much as possible.

  • They feel noticed and honored, even if you get their name wrong.
  • If you’ve forgotten their name, say “Can you remind me of your name?”
